Better Bino and Reveal Distances

Reasonably increases detect Ever try to get that single pixel that’d get your binoculars to zoom in only to fail and give up after 5 minutes? Well, it turns out the cone size for said binoculars is literally a single point. Lets fix that. And while we are at it, lets increase some of the ranges used for certain locations while not breaking the gameplay loop and going into cheat territory.

Problems Were Had – Binocular Parameters
Unfortunately the changes to the binoculars parameters does not change how long it takes to acquire a point on the map, nor does it make it easier to unlock if you hunting for that single pixel. I have more on this on my stickied post in the comments section.

However, all the detection distance changes work fine.
What’s Changed

Binocular Parameters:
DetectionConeSize : 0.01 > 0.3This does not make it easier to obtain waypoints.
AcquireRequiredTime : 1.25 > 0.5This does not reduce the time required to obtain waypoints

Binocular Detect Distances:
Generally left most of it alone (defaults to 500 or 750 for most locations, 1000 for quests). I didn’t touch the Metro or OWA_Flooded (250) as they are things you have to find from within the clutter of the city.
GRE_Anomaly : 250 > 400
Safe_Zone : 250 > 400
Shop : 75 > 150
Dark_Place : 125 > 250
Loot_Island : 75 > 150
Abandoned_Structure : 250 > 400

Reveal Distances:
Almost every single entry was changed from the default. Instead of most being set to 99, I’ve set them to 1/3 the binocular distance. The exception are the few that are lower than the default 99. In this case I’ve increased them by 3x.
HUB : 99 > 250
Quest_Location : 99 > 300
Electrical_Substation : 99 > 250
Water_Tower : 99 > 250
Radio_Tower : 99 > 250
Bandit_Camp : 99 > 166
GRE : 99 > 166
Abandoned_Structure: 99 > 166
Metro : 99 > 100 (Left this alone as you have to find this in the clutter of the city)
GRE_Anomaly : 99 > 133
Airdrop : 99 > 166
OWA_Flooded : 10 > 30
Safe_Zone : 99 > 133
Shop : 25 > 75
Dark_Place : 25 > 75
Loot_Island : 50 > 90 (Feels like this should be hard to find for a reason)
Abandoned_Structure 99 > 133

Files Changed: detectablesconfig.scr

Installation
Drop into: steamapps\common\Dying Light 2\ph\source

Already have data3.pak?
Then change the number at the end to be one higher than what is already there.

This is not compatible with any mod that changes “detectablesconfig.scr” !ion ranges for both binoculars and normal traversal for waypoints on the map.
